LiDAR
For engineering design considerations or increased positional accuracy, LiDAR data can be included in the acquisition process (along with Optimal Geomatics' Vid/Tracker system) to provide data suitable for engineering design considerations. LiDAR acquisition involves active scanning with pulses of light. Timing the reflection-return delay of each pulse provides an accurate measurement of the distance to the target (relative accuracies of 15 cm or 6 inches are achievable). When a LiDAR system is used for airborne scanning, the result is a detailed collection of data of the swath flown.
