Field Support Specialist

Description: Optimal GEO has a career opening for a Field Support Specialist located in Kiln, MS. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting office and field teams with imagery and LiDAR data processing. This position is required to deploy with field acquisition teams to various U.S. locations including Alaska and Hawaii or U.S. overseas territories. Standard deployment rotations are 1 month, and this position will be required to work out of the Kiln, MS office when not deployed. Deployment months are typically from Spring to Fall.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize, process, and analyze bathymetric and topographic LiDAR data and imagery

  • Edit/Clean/Classify processed LiDAR datasets

  • Airborne GPS processing

  • LiDAR and imagery data quality checks

  • Coverage checks

  • Apply appropriate LiDAR data filters

  • Creating imagery Digital Elevations Models (DEM)

  • Preparing data for office shipment

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of LiDAR, photogrammetry, and remote sensing

  • Demonstrated production experience in processing LiDAR data, LiDAR derived products, and other types of terrain products

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

  • Ability to perform in a detail-oriented environment with a high level of accuracy

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously

  • Ability to compile, review, and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

  • Ability to travel extensively and conduct activities at locations throughout the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii or U.S. overseas territories

Preferences:

  • Previous experience in bathymetric LiDAR processing

  • Previous experience in airborne acquisition operations

 

Physical Demands:

  • Primary Duties are performed in an office environment

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time

  • Must be able to work 12-hour days during 1-month deployments

  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers and clients. Must be able to exchange accurate information
