Mark W. Brooks
As Chief Operating Officer of Optimal Geo, Mark Brooks oversees all business operations, including managing technology and human resources. He has over 25 years of surveying and mapping experience, specializing in bathymetric and topographic lidar, and more than 15 years of operations management. Brooks holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in both Civil Engineering and Land Surveying from Purdue University.
John Merritt brings 20 years of experience in the geospatial industry to his role as Vice President, Programs with Optimal GEO. Prior to joining Optimal GEO in 2012, he served in every position from GIS intern to Program Manager at 3001, Inc. and Northrop Grumman. As Vice President, Programs he ensures our focus remains on our clients and we maintain an atmosphere of continual improvement. Merritt is a graduate of Penn State’s College of Earth and Mineral Sciences.
Business Development and Marketing
Heading up Optimal GEO’s Business Development & Marketing efforts, Andy Freckmann brings over 25 years of various sales roles to the company. Freckmann has over 15 years of experience in the geospatial market, most recently as a Federal Program Manager with Critigen. Prior to Critigen, he held Business Development & Project Management roles with SAIC at the Department of Homeland Security’s Geospatial Management Office, as well as with Fugro EarthData, GeoDecisions, and Booz Allen. Freckmann is a graduate of Virginia Tech.
Benjamin Beckman is the production manager at Optimal GEO and brings 10 years of experience in LiDAR, GIS, and orthophotography. Prior to joining Optimal GEO, Benjamin served as a LiDAR production lead at Magnolia River Geospatial, Inc. Earlier in his career, he also held various positions at Northrop Grumman and 3001 Inc. Beckman is a graduate of the University of North Alabama.
Lane Mousel started his career working as a cartographer & photogrammetrist at the Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace center in St. Louis, MO for 10 years. His years as a compiler & analyst gained him the operational knowledge to move into engineering & management with a systems engineering position at Intergraph Corporation in Huntsville, AL. Lane served for over 29 years at Intergraph working government mapping projects as a systems engineer, technical manager, & Sr. Manager for production programs. Lane brings this vast government & private industry to his role as Optimal GEO’s GeoInt Program Manager. Lane holds degrees from South Dakota State University & the Florida Institute of Technology.
Chris Jaeger has over 35 years of experience in project management, remote sensing, photogrammetry and GIS analysis. Prior to Optimal Geo, he was a surveying and mapping project manager with Magnolia River Geospatial, Inc.; a senior topographic analyst with the U.S. Army; a senior cartographic instructor with the National Imagery & Mapping College, NIMA (now NGA); and a Cartographer with the U.S. Army. Jaeger brings this experience to his role as the Army Corps Program Manager. Mr. Jaeger is a licensed Surveyor Photogrammetrist in the Commonwealth of Virginia, a Certified Photogrammetrist (ASPRS), a certified GIS Professional (GISCI), and a certified Project Management Professional (PMI).
